"Evenley Junior Cricket has gone from strength to strength this season, with over 40 kids registered who have been coached every Sunday morning (weather permiting) from May to August, along with an U13 team in the SNJCL for the first time. Over 25 kids have experienced hardball matches in the League this season and in addition we have played friendly U11's against Hinton, U14's against Haddenham and Kwik Cricket against Charlton. Excitingly, we also sent a contingent to the Andrew Flintoff Academy at Bedford School in August.
Not surprisingly it took a while for the kids to get used to competitive cricket, but after a steep learning curve we were placed into Division 4 (out of 5) after the grading games. Our best grading result was a memorable tie against Cropedy, but we kicked off the League with a fabulous win over Silverstone in our first game. Although this feat was not repeated, we showed how much we had improved over the season with a thrilling win over Hinton (from Division 2) in the Cup.
We rounded off the Season with a Presentation Barbecue, after a Parents Match, on Bank Holiday Sunday (pics below) and the main awards went to the following:
Batting - Adam Sellwood
Bowling - Jack Henn
Most Improved - Oli Crompton
Player of the Year - Oscar Brown, our regular Captain.
Other stalwarts during the season were Andrew Darcy, Dom Tuckey, Tom Darby and Mikey Peyton-Bruhl, with stars of the future Harry Williams, Jamie Russell and Will Ellis.

As ever, our thanks go to all the parents for getting the kids to the right places at the right times and to the other coaches: Angela Crompton, Kate Darby and Rachel Gallyot, with Jim Smith and Julian Walker."
